East of the popular resort of Benodet is a huge area where naturists can be found; the beach extends for a couple of miles, and behind it there is totally uncultivated land. My most memorable experience there was to see a man walk from Le Letty (a curious tidal pool with adjacent campsites) all the way to the car park at Mousterlin completely naked. What was striking was that he was not walking along the beach but a footpath behind it. What was marvellous was that no-one turned a hair (and the footpath is regularly used by holidaymakers who are very much more conservative in their dress. The gentleman concerned, it could be argued, was a bit of an exhibitionist because the day in question was quite chilly, yet he walked not only behind the beach but across the car park where of course there were many "textiles". (Perhaps it was considered acceptable behaviour because, although of mature years, he was in excellent physical shape but mahogany coloured from head to foot). What I felt about the incident was that he was setting markers for naturist use of the whole area. For myself it was certainly an enjoyable day; I too walked a considerable distance naked, although not behind the beach.
